Art Show Thank You

Firstly thank you to all of Wideview’s very clever students for sharing their artistic creations with our school community. Thank you to the fantastic Wideview teachers who worked with the children to create such an amazing Art Gallery. Thank you to Julie Steptoe and Jenee Fawdry who always do a fantastic job handling all administration.

A huge thank you must go to Cassie Clark and Sandy Warburton for their enthusiasm, support and artistic talent. Many children were able to paint the mural which Cassie designed on the storage container and participate in the craft activities which Sandy organised. Thank you also to our Art Show parent coordinators: Victoria Gleeson, Andy Day, Shane Orre, Emily Howe, Michelle Watson, Emma Gillies, Dianne Stoddart, Katrine Marshall, Liesel Balken and Julie King. These wonderful parents coordinated the children’s art and craft activities and the canteen.

Thank you to all of the hardworking parents and grandparents, who gave up their time on the day to assist with the craft activities, work in the canteen, set and pack up.

Thank you also to:

§    Ruth Carlos who spent hours sewing our new black fabric to create the gallery.

§    Banjo Vogt, Daniel Adam, Robyn Adam, Ian Coleman and Terry McKinnon for putting up the cabling, hooks and black fabric.

§    Steph Lake for coordinating all advertising and creating the PowerPoint presentation.

Thank you to the market stall holders for being at our show and donating raffle prizes.

Thank you to all parents for your generosity and for supporting Wideview Public School.  A total of $2193.20 was raised on the day. This money will go towards buying quality resources for Wideview’s Creative Arts Programs.

I sincerely apologise if I have forgotten to thank anyone.

Thanks again

Angela Reynolds

Calling All Year 6

Do you have any photos reflecting your time at Wideview from kindy to now? All photos are required by year 6 students to make a special keepsake DVD to take with you when you leave at the end of this year. An orange folder is kept in Mr McKinnon’s classroom for you to put your photos in to be scanned and returned. Your kindy school portrait photo would also be appreciated to help make a before and after slideshow.

The Art Show

Last Wednesday, Wideview had the Art Show. Weeks before, every class was preparing for it and having fun while doing it. All the children were painting, sculpting, drawing, taking pictures and designing. Overall it was awesome with stalls including Sand Art, Calligraphy, Pet Rocks and best of all the mural painting.

We can’t wait until next year!!!

Looking forward to the

Performing Arts Evening

We are all looking forward to the Performing Arts Evening which is on the 17th of September next week. We are all excited to see what sort of talent the children at Wideview have. All the groups are practising as hard as they can whilst having fun together to make sure they amaze you with their wonderful talents.

No Bullying or Swearing

Over the past few months a few Wideview students in the SRC have been commenting on how much bullying and bad language there is in the playground. This is mainly happening in primary and other students don’t like it.

Not only should the playground be a fun place but no-one at Wideview likes having their feelings hurt. Bullying isn’t cool it leaves you without friends.

Bad language offends people and is rude. Substitute bad language for good words or no words at all.

Here at Wideview, we want all children to be happy so no bullying or bad language.

The older children that are not using appropriate behaviour please remember to set a good example and not a bad one.

Wideview is a great school and should be known for great things.

Inspiration

Today I am going snorkelling. My friend, Julia said she would take me out on her boat. I am about to drive to meet her, so we can go out. I have just got to find my keys. I look everywhere and guess where they are, in the fridge. When I pick them up they are so cold that I drop them. When they hit the ground they made a beautiful sound, a bit like rain hitting the ground hard and fast. I will now go out to the car because I am already late. I finally start driving and I think to my self “I wasted so much time looking for my keys and it’s such a beautiful day!” As I drive into the beach parking lot, I see Julia waiting for me. “Hi Julia, sorry I took so long!” “Let’s go!” We are out, bobbing up and down as the waves roll under us. I put my heavy gear on and checked my air tank is full. Then I jump into the water. I start to swim. As I get deeper and deeper the ocean gets more beautiful, with the crystal blue water and the sun shimmering through. I can’t believe this is all real.

I see a wonderful school of fish. There are so many different colours coming from coral and divine animals.

As I swim little bubbles float up from my mouth, bobbing up and down in a line.

I check my air tank but I don’t have very much air left! But I haven’t seen all the beautiful things!

I decide to go back up, but I don’t want to.

I look down for one last time, and then go up to the boat.

As soon as I get all my heavy gear off I say to Julia “that was pure inspiration!”

In January and February 2010, students, aged 15 – 18 years, from over 15 countries will be arriving in Australia to study at local schools for 5 or 10 months.  Opportunities exist to act as a host family in a volunteer/unpaid capacity.  Hosting can be on a temporary, short or long term basis.

Host families help provide our students with the chance to study and experience life in Australia.  This is a great way to learn about another country and culture, establish a lifelong link to a family in another country and contribute to international goodwill.  If your family can offer a friendly, supportive and caring home environment, contact us today.

To learn more about this opportunity call Student Exchange Australia on 1300 135 331
